We want to send a big thank you to everyone who participated in SRS Hackathon 2017 and helped make it a success!
Congratulations "Lending Square", the winner of GHS 25,000 cash prize for the SRS Hackathon 2017. A team comprising of three individuals; Emmanuel I. Mbalam, Gideon Yorke, and John Boateng Akuoko-Tawiah were the proud winners of this event.
The event attracted over 40 attendants over 4 days, where business professionals, software developers, and bankers met at the iSpace Foundation in Labone (Accra), to find innovative and workable ways of credit-scoring the unbanked and people with little/no financial history in Ghana.
The developed solutions from the participants were judged based on innovation, functionality, practicality of the solution and their user-friendliness. Nine (9) innovative solutions were presented however, the "QreditBook” by the team "Lending Square" was the highlight.
Special mention goes to 2 teams, "Inclusive Financial Technologies” and "E-Enchill” for their innovative solutions.
Ghana currently boasts of some 30 universal banks and over 600 branches nationwide. However, despite the impressive growth of financial institutions in the country, a majority of the country’s population remain outside the formal banking system. With no direct access to banks, about 70% of Ghanaians, particularly small and medium enterprises do not have access to credit or loans.
Secure Revenue Services understands this challenge and aims to develop solutions to help serve individuals and businesses that face such challenges.
